 • Glass • Youghiogheny
Youghiogheny Opalescent Glass Co., Inc.

A manufacturer of distinctive opalescent glass in the Tiffany tradition. Youghiogheny has an outstanding reputation around the world for the quality and color of its sheet glass. The makers of Tiffany lamp reproductions depend on Youghiogheny to produce lamps so like those made by Tiffany Studios as to be practically indistinguishable from the originals.
    Stipple Glass

Because of the translucent quality of stipple glass, there is a three dimensional effect when other colors are streaked through the glass. In the manufacturing of stipple glass, colors added appear to tear raggedly through the glass rather than bleed and become muddy as in the case of traditional fluorine glasses. The difference between a traditional fluorine opal and the ice-like quality of stipple glass becomes very evident when illuminated. Stipple glass does not require dead opacity to hide the filament of a light bulb. It is possible to have translucent glass which can hold its integrity when illuminated.

This glass is priced by the square foot.

    Our mail order sheets are: 12” x 16”= 1.33 sq. ft. each or: 24”x 16”= 2.66 sq.ft. each
Factory sheet size: 24” x 36”= 6 sq. ft. per sheet.
